Cincinnati Zoo!

We were so excited to take Jackson to the zoo for the first time.  He is finally old enough to get what is happening and to recognize all the animals we see in books and make noises for.  We went with our friends the Beardsley's and their little girl Eloise.  Both kids did GREAT.  No whining, crying (except for Jackson being terrified.  More on that later), or kids old enough to complain about it being hot, or tired, or have an opinion about what animal to see next =)

We didn't get to see very many animals because it was so hot, but the ones we saw were pretty cool! We started out with the Cheetah encounter. SO COOL.  They rig up a fluffy toy on a string and pull it really fast across a big grassy area as the Cheetah chases it.  SO FAST! Everyone thought it was cool, except Jackson.  My big, strong, tough boy was scared of the cheetah, 30 feet away, behind a fence.  He SCREAMED and CRIED in fear! Poor guy.  It was actually kind of embarrassing.

Other highlights include the gorilla encounter.  The zoo has a brand new baby gorilla. SO CUTE!

The manatees were so awesome. First, they were in an air conditioned room, soothing music was playing as the manatees swam back and forth in the water. Jackson loved being up close to them!

Jackson's favorite part.  The elephants.  He was passed out in the stroller as we made our way over.   But when we got inside the exhibit his eyes opened up and was wide away!  He was so excited to see them!

What made this trip even better was a trip to Charming Charlie's!!!! If you haven't ever been there you are seriously missing out! It is a store full of jewelry, purses, scarves, accessories all organized by color.  I can't explain it, but this store seriously makes me so happy and giddy. After, we made our way over to The Cheesecake Factory, YUM!!
