1st hair cut. P.R.B.B. Holy goose egg. Coloring.

Image
Jackson got his 1st hair cut 2 weeks ago.  It was a little too short for me because you could see his scars on his head but it has grown some and has grown on me also.  I now look back at his long shaggy, curly hair.  Holy Moly! He looked like he had a wig on!  He did so well! I probably won't go back to the place again though because the experience while waiting for his hair cut was awful! Some mom holding down her 2 year old while he was screaming bloody murder about how he wanted to stop and go home and kicking and yelling at the barber stop, while she held him down also.  Plus it was $15 not including tax or tip! But he did get to sit in a cute air plane and held mostly still until the end when he was done. This week a tried another recipe from my "recipes to try".  It was AWFUL! and it even had bacon in it! First off, you are supposed to cook noodles, reserve some water, drain noodles, and then add water back in.  Doesn't sound like a...

P.R.B.B. (Pinterest Recipe board binge)

Image
P.R.B.B.  Pinterest Recipe board binge My husband asked me randomly "What percentage of the recipes you have pinned on your recipe board have you actually made?"  I guessed 30%.  He thought it was more 3%.   I'm sure most of you are like me and pin away and sometimes don't get to doing most of the things you have pinned.  I have made quite a few recipes and have even done of the cleaning tips.  One day, I hope to do the fun crafts on there too! But starting last week I have decided to make at least but not limited to 1 recipe a week from my board. I'm also going to break up my boards into "Need to try", "Pinterest Fail" (Already have one of these) and "Recipes going in the books". Now I have actually calculated how many I have made on my recipes board.   I have 351 pins.  I have made 81. That's 23%.  In your face husband! =) Well I noticed while doing this that I have A LOT of desserts and drinks.  Also,...

Jackson is 1 / Mustache Bash!

Image
Jackson turned 1 about a month ago. Seriously, where has the time gone?? The day after his party I left for vacation so I haven't blogged about that or even the awesomeness of my little man.  First the party! We did a combined birthday with his friend Sophia who turned 1 the day after him.  Her theme was Sesame Street, which is why some of the food and decorations have that.  Jackson's was Mustache Bash and I had SO much fun making things for it.  It was HARD work though and a lot of time and thought.  Bummer, cause he won't remember a thing =) First, Decorations.  I got most of my ideas from pinterest and then made them my own. Jackson's Table. Props for the photo booth I made   This sign was made by a lady in my church.  Turned out JUST how I wanted and costs $60 less than they were charging on Etsy! The Cake.  Ok.  This cake took me 4 days to make!  This cake recipe 3, 6 inch laye...

Jackson's Birth Story

Image
I woke up June 13th around 5:55am to some strong contractions.  At first I didn't think they were anything too serious because the last couple of nights you hadn't let me sleep very well.  Always pushing really hard and flopping around.  It was when I started watching the clock and realizing they were every 5-10 minutes that I realized today might be your grand entrance day!  Your dad had to get up early to go to work with your Uncle Josh in Denver so I told him to pack his hospital bag up just in case.  I kept timing my contractions and they kept coming.  They were pretty uncomfortable but I was able to get the rest of my stuff together and packed.  Luckily, the day before I had done all the laundry, including sheets, cleaned the shower really well, and had wrote down all the important numbers I might need. I watched the contractions for about an hour and Doctor Howell had told me if they were strong for an hour and every 2-5 minutes apart I shou...

The Horse Races at Keeneland

Image
If you haven't ever been to a horse race you haven't lived! It is the most surreal experience ever.  The bugle sounds "da da dada dada da da da da" "They're at the post" "RRRRRIINNNG" Here in Lexington they have horse races twice a year, fall and spring, for 3 weeks at a time at Keeneland.   Every time I hear the bugle sound I get chills.  It is unlike anything I have ever done. This year we were able to go twice.  Once when my mother-in-law and sister-in-law with her little lady Juilanne, were in town and the other was with some friends from church and medical school, the Beardsley's We had some styling kids when we went with the in-laws.  Not to brag, but Jackson might have been the cutest kid there.  He was getting double takes EVERYWHERE and he was definitely flirting with EVERY girl he had contact with.  It's probably because his Nana got him a super cute checkered shirt with a matching hat! What a week it has been. He is so curious! It started off with AH-MAZING weather.  Up in the 80's! I LOVED IT.  Jackson on the other hand did not.  He had been fussy for a couple of days and then Tuesday he was burning up.  I thought it was just because of the weather (we didn't want to turn the air on) but turns out he had a fever, 103.7 for about 2 days and tylenol or Ibuprofen didn't seem to help at all.  I thought maybe he had an infection because his boy parts from his  surgery last week. Read HERE!  were swollen. So we took him to the doctor and they said he looked great and it probably wasn't related.  The fever finally broke Thursday and then I noticed a rash (which I thought was from the heat) that was first in his groin area and then moved to behind his ears.  I remembered I had pinned something from pinterest about rashes and kids and I'm glad I did.  I found out what he had from THIS  post, Roseola.  Na...
