Spring Break in Colorado

Image
Being in medical school is hard stuff.  But I think I'm okay with still having spring, Christmas, and summer break.  And now that Scott starts his PhD next year we have at least 3 more years of them! We were so excited that we could go out to Colorado to see Scott's family who we haven't seen since October!! Jackson has grown up so much since then and everyone was so excited to see the little boy he has become. It started out early with a 6:10am flight, meaning we had to wake up at 2:30am to leave for the airport.  Ouch.  But luckily, Jackson slept almost the whole time and did so well when he was awake.   We had a rough time from the flying (threw up on the way home from the airport AND on the plane back home) and from the time change.  He was up at 5:30am every day and didn't do so great with nap time. But we took turns and dealt with it. While we were there we did LOTS of shopping and LOTS of hanging out with family and friends. We found s...

Our not so little boy.

Image
Jackson is 20 months old.  That is 4 months from being 2!! I can't believe it. But at the same time I can with his little 2 year old attitude =)  For one of my New Years resolutions, I wanted to do more sensory and craft things with Jackson. This is cloud dough.  He LOVES it at it's only oil and flour mixed together! Jackson can... do the hand motions to the songs Popcorn popping and 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed and do the motions and sing Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. he knows 22 shapes.  Can say 7 of them, and can see circles, squares, triangles, hearts, and diamonds in everyday objects and life. count to 3. help get dressed and undressed. Painting in a bag.  This lasted about 5 seconds when he realized he couldn't actually touch the paint. Jackson says... His favorite word and food is cereal.  He wants it for every meal and snack. He is now saying 3 word phrases.  The cutest are " I got it",  "Turn li...

Here comes baby #2

FINALLY glad I can tell everyone! We are expecting our 2nd baby around the end of August 2014.  Still no idea what gender, but I do have a hunch. Here is the cute little video announcement I made on iMovie. I am also very glad to announce it so I can stop trying to hid it.  My belly seriously popped out a week after I found out (4 weeks).  People were starting to get suspicious, especially at church.  Every Sunday I would try on 10 different outfits, trying to find one that didn't show that little pooch sticking out! The pregnancy has been SO different than Jackson.  With him, I found out at about 6 weeks.  I got one really big migraine (and couldn't take anything) and then after that I had NONE until about half way through nursing (6 months old) they started to come back. But they were only headaches.  Since I have been pregnant I have had them TOO often.  Sometimes every other day for a couple of days, and some lasting multiple days. ...

The Holidays and New Year Resolutions.

Image
What a crazy but fun time we had this Holiday Season! We spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas in Kansas City.  We have decide it is easier/better financially to go to KC for Thanksgiving and Christmas we alternate there and Colorado. We enjoyed Thanksgiving in Kansas City with the typical deep fried turkey, plaza lights, and black Friday shopping.  Jackson got sick and had to go to the ER, which you can read about here . Jackson had so much fun playing with cousins.  Even though he bullied and kind of picked on his cousin Max who is 6 weeks old than him but smaller.  A lot of time outs were had. He did much better at Christmas. The next 2.5 weeks in-between the holidays were crazy.  Scott had multiple tests and I felt like I had a never ending list of things to do.  Jackson was also sick still! The croup virus made him lactose intolerant for a couple of days (we figured this out after he would throw up any time he would eat dia...

Priesthood Power!

Image
I have been able to witness many powerful priesthood blessings in my life time.  Many involving my little boy as many of you have read about with all of his surgeries.  But this past week I was able to witness the most powerful immediate response to a priesthood blessing. First what is the priesthood?  The priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name. The same priesthood authority that existed in the original Church established by Jesus Christ exists in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today. The Church is directed and led through this authority. For more answers head on over to the  Mormon.org  explanation. This last week we were in KC for Thanksgiving visiting family.  Our family started to get a cold a couple of days before we were going to leave.  Things were fine, but Jackson seemed to be getting the worst of it.  We first noticed something was up when he started getting the barking seal cough (AKA croup, which I k...

Life lately

Image
Oh life… you have a way of just ticking right on by! So much has happened lately but here are some highlights I started a new business.  Maybe you have heard of it? Origami Owl Custom Jewelry and I LOVE IT! 1. because I love jewelry 2. Because I don't have to be a crazy sales person to sell it because everyone loves it 3. I can change it every day to what I want! Seriously, so fun! IF you haven't heard of it, check out my website www.lexingtonlockets.origamiowl.com Jackson and I took a trip to Colorado to visit family and for me to go to Time Out For Women with just us girls (mother in law and 2 sister in laws)! We also got to meet up with our friends Ashley and Ryder Sloan.  I'm sure by next time the boys see each other they will be into playing with each other! Time Out For Women was so much fun (what we saw of it) and so was the night we spent in Denver with just the girls! We got locked out of our room (and our stuff) and they tried to compensa...

Thalman's happenings

Image
The Thalman's have been so busy lately.  Actually, correction... I have been so busy.  Or at least my brain feels super stressed and busy. DELICIOUS Pina Colada, inside a pineapple! 1. Leak in our main line coming into our house.  No idea how long it had been leaking but it was only a fluke we found it.  After it rained a TON I had him go down in the crawl space to see if everything was good.  Everything was but that! So called a plumber, he was fast, and friendly, and EXPENSIVE! Need help paying bills? Become a plumber! He was there for 45 min. and charged me $120 in labor GAAAH 2. AC stopped working... Called a bunch of people and choose the person that had the lowest diagnostic price.  GREAT choice! Fast, Friendly, and great priced.  They found out my AC was still warranted and I got a $20 coupon on their website! Scott is kicking butt in school.  What's new? He's super smart and is really efficient at his studying which is GREAT for...
